On arriving in the Republic of the Maldives, Varun flies North to the Four Seasons Resort at Landaa Giraavaru (in the Baa Atoll) where he is whisked off to the Landaa Estate – one of the most sought after & expensive offerings in the Indian Ocean.
After reviewing his amazing accommodations – which includes a private pool and private stretch of beach – Varun heads out onto the Indian Ocean with Guy Stevens – head of the manta ray research project. Varun snorkels with manta-rays!
Back at the resort, Varun plants an artificial coral reef with the resident marine biologist Thomas Le Berre.
He then meets with the legendary hotelier Armando Kraenzlin who tells him about the resort and the sister island – Kuda Huraa and the diving ship – Explorer. Varun then heads down to the beach to try his hand at X-Jetpack flying – it IS much trickier than it looks…After a short flight and another boat ride, this time South, Varun arrives at The Park Hyatt Hadahaa in the Huvadhoo Atoll.
On arrival, Varun is whisked off to his Beach Villa. From here he heads to the beach to meet with resident marine biologist and naturalist Kiera McCarten to learn about the incredible history and geography of the Maldives.
Varun then learns how to create a typical Maldivian dish (tuna soup) with Chef Chintika Pereira. In 2014, Varun took and passed his PADI diving course and he tried his first “night dive” at the Park Hyatt! It was – in his own words – spectacular!
Next up an interview with resort General Manager Julian Moore about the property and its amazing architecture … before … the most amazing, colourful and eventful Scuba Dive .. with the resident Dive Instructor Pauline Pinglaut.
A fabulous end to a fabulous trip.
