The 2nd SS Panzer Division “Das Reich” was one of 38 divisions of the Waffen-SS of Nazi Germany during World War II.

Das Reich served during the invasion of France and was in several major battles on the Eastern Front. When it was transfered to the West it took part in the fighting in Normandy.

With 15,000 men and more than 200 tanks, Das Reich took six days to reach Normandy from the south of France, and were responsible for murdering civilians at the Tulle massacre and at Oradour-sur-Glane along the way.
